Turning video into other content

Let's expand on last week

Welcome! I hope you had a great week.

In last week’s issue of No Budget Marketing, I talked about a tactic you can use to get started on your marketing without spending any additional dollars.

As part of that, I shared my TikTok video and said I’d show how you can turn a video like that into lots of content.

So, here we go. Let’s make some content for free.

The next step: Grabbing the transcript

Ok, so you recorded a video like the one I shared above from TikTok.

Now, you need to grab the transcript so you can start turning it into other forms of content.

There are various tools you can use to pull a transcript. VEED is the one I’m going with for this example, using their free version.

The Subtitles section in VEED.

Go into the Subtitles menu on the left side (as shown in the image above) and follow the steps to auto-create those.

Then, highlight all the text in the subtitles section and you can copy and paste that into a Google Doc (here’s where I did that with mine). Your Google Doc is going to be your main source document that you can come back to every time you’re ready to create something new from your video transcript.

If you posted your video to YouTube and not TikTok, check out the article I wrote below for step-by-step instructions on how to pull that transcript.

Turning your video transcript into copy for blog posts, emails and social media

Things get fun at this point.

You have your Google Doc with the transcript you pasted from your video. Now you can make a copy of that and start chopping it up or expanding on it for blog posts, email blasts, and social media posts. You can also bring in AI tools to help.

Here’s what I got back when I took the transcript from my video and asked ChatGPT to, “Turn this into a blog post.”

Maximizing Marketing Impact Without Breaking the Bank: 3 Cost-Efficient Strategies
In the realm of marketing, budget constraints often pose a significant challenge, particularly for small businesses or startups. However, an absence of substantial funds doesn't equate to an absence of impactful marketing strategies. There are several ways to effectively market your business without delving deep into your pockets. Let's explore three cost-efficient yet potent marketing strategies that can elevate your brand's visibility and engagement.
1. Email Marketing
Email marketing remains a stalwart tactic in the marketing arsenal, and its effectiveness persists even without extravagant financial investments. Various email marketing programs offer free services for a limited number of users, making them ideal for businesses just starting or with a modest subscriber base.
Crafting compelling email content might demand time, but it's a cost-effective method to directly engage with your audience. If you're yet to build a subscriber list, leverage social media platforms to redirect traffic to a landing page, prompting visitors to join your email list.
2. Content Marketing
A website acts as the digital storefront for your business. Utilize this online space by incorporating a section dedicated to valuable content tailored to your target audience. Creating informative, insightful, and relevant content not only engages potential customers but also positions your brand as an authority in your industry.
While setting up a website might require a minimal initial investment, it's an essential foundation for content marketing. Numerous affordable website-building tools and hosting services are available. If you already have a website, convert a segment into a blog where you consistently publish content that resonates with your audience's interests.
3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Enhancing your website's visibility on search engines can significantly impact your brand's online presence. Contrary to the misconception that effective SEO requires expensive tools or agency assistance, there's a wealth of free resources and guidance available online.
Researching and implementing SEO practices like identifying relevant keywords, optimizing content with those keywords, incorporating backlinks, and utilizing alt tags for images can bolster your website's ranking without incurring additional costs.
By focusing on these three strategies—Email Marketing, Content Marketing, and SEO—you can effectively market your business without a substantial financial outlay. The key lies in leveraging available resources, dedicating time and effort, and consistently refining your approach based on insights and feedback.

In conclusion, marketing doesn't always demand a hefty budget. With a strategic approach and resourcefulness, you can propel your business's visibility and engagement while keeping expenses in check. Start implementing these tactics today, and witness the impactful results they can bring to your brand.

What about using the transcript for emails and social media?

So above is the blog post ChatGPT produced, which is a nice start. I’d make edits to it before posting it and then you can start to play with some other ways to use this content.

Here’s what happens when I ask ChatGPT to write a tweet to promote the blog post it wrote:

🚀✨ Discover how to market your business on a budget! Our latest blog post outlines 3 powerful strategies that elevate your brand without breaking the bank. From email to SEO, these insights are a game-changer for your marketing game. Check it out! #MarketingTips #SmallBiz

Would I use that tweet? Definitely not like it is right now. But, it might get me started toward something, especially if I didn’t have a marketing team or was tight on time.

What happens next?

Next, you could ask ChatGPT to help you with a LinkedIn version of you blog post or a post to promote it. You can ask it to create an email based on the content too. The possibilities go on and on.

The content you get back from ChatGPT won’t always be perfect and ready to use as is, but I view it like giving a team member a project. They can produce a draft and you can jump in and tweak things before hitting the publish button.

AI can give you a little jumpstart. You can also get better results over time as you figure out which AI prompts produce the best results for you.

Has this been helpful?

Between this week’s and last week’s newsletter, I hope you’ve gotten some ideas for how you can quickly generate some content for marketing your brand.

When in doubt, turn on that camera and start talking. Content that might not easily make its way to the page when you’re typing, can start pouring out when all you have to do is talk.

Then, you can take that transcript and head in multiple directions with it. It’s a great way to find your voice and to do the hardest thing: get started.

I’m here if you have questions. Thanks for reading and I look forward to chatting with you again next week. We’ll be diving into the topic of email marketing.
